Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 955 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods

Quantitative samples of benthic invertebrates were obtained using a modified Hess sampler (0.071 m2, 500-μm mesh size) or a Surber sampler (0.063 m2, 500-μm mesh size) depending on the depth of water. At each site, eight to ten subsamples were taken. Samples were fixed in a 4 % formaldehyde solution in plastic bottles.

Study Extent The sampling was carried out in the Váh River and the Čierny Váh River. Altogether, the research was carried out at 23 sites. Sampling was performed twice, during September 2015 and May 2016.

Method step description:

  1. The benthic invertebrates were separated from the other organic and inorganic material and preserved in 70 % ethylalcohol. Non-insect benthic invertebrates were identified to the species level when possible using the identification keys of Goedmakers (1981), Horsák et al. (2013), Nesemann & Neubert (1999) and Timm (2009).
